But when the newspaper is bought by media giant the Goring Group, who value sales figures over fact-checking, Thorn is swiftly relegated to reporting heart-warming stories for the a midweek section The Bright side, a job to which she is spectacularly unsuited.

On a final warning and with no heart- warming stor in sight, Thorn goes against her principles and fabricates an uplifting viral news piece of her own, only to find that there may be more truth to her creation than first appeared.
